Keith Evans Architects is a Winchester-based creative design studio established in 2019. We are passionate about design and have a particular interest in the craft of putting buildings and places together in a thoughtful, simple and sensitive way and enjoy collaborating with forward-thinking people with an equal enthusiasm for these design principles.

Design Approach: Each project explores the spirit of the place, appreciating the past history, present context and future parameters to help inform the design. At the core of each project are the clients’ needs and a commitment to challenge and explore opportunities to meet the brief requirements and exceed client expectations. 

Work Stages: We work on all stages of projects including; Feasibility studies, Concept design, Planning applications, Building regulations applications, Production information for pricing and and on site Construction and On-site works including contract management and site supervision.

Sector Experience: Working across all sectors including homes for individual clients and developments for multiple owners, learning environments, public buildings and places of work.

Sustainability: Sustainable design is at the core of all our projects and is intrinsic at every stage, helping to guide and inform decisions along the way. We have experience designing and delivering projects to BREEAM, Fabric First and Passivhaus.

Public Value: Providing Public Value through design is one of our core beliefs. Keith has more than ten years experience working with local authorities including Hampshire County Council and Reading Borough Council where he was responsible for designing and delivering projects of various scales and types including: community buildings and day-care centres, general needs, sheltered and supported living affordable homes, dementia and nursing care homes, and primary and secondary schools for mainstream and SEN pupils.

Methods: We employ many methods to test and communicate ideas including sketching, drawing, physical modelling, 2D and 3D CAD, photography and photomontage.

Previous Life: Keith studied architecture at Portsmouth University, Westminster University and the Bartlett in London. At Westminster he won the Bannister Fletcher Dissertation prize for a study on 'Colour Space' in Art and Architecture. He has previously worked in Oxford, London and Winchester at Hamilton Associates, DEGW, Allies and Morrison, Design Engine and Hampshire County Architects. During his time at various practices Keith has gained extensive experience in education, commercial, housing and the public sector and has worked on a large number of high profile, complex and multiple award winning projects.

Awards: Keith is an award winning Architect, with 25 Architecture awards, including 9 from the RIBA and also from the: British Council for Offices, Civic Trust, Education Estates, EEDA, Oxford Preservation Trust, Royal Fine Arts Commission, Royal Town Planning Institute, SPACES, The Architects Journal and The City of Winchester Trust.

Qualifications: Keith Evans is an ARB registered Architect and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Keith Evans Architects is an RIBA Chartered Practice.
